Intro to New Build and Power Generation is designed to bring together early career professionals and those new to the nuclear sector, offering an engaging introduction to the role, significance, and future of nuclear new build in the UK.
The event will be delivered over two carefully structured days.
Day One will focus on expert-led presentations exploring the key themes, challenges, and opportunities associated with nuclear new build. These sessions will cover a broad range of topics, including reactor technologies, project delivery, regulation, supply chain development, skills and workforce needs, and the strategic importance of new nuclear in supporting the UK’s net zero ambitions. Together, these talks will provide delegates with insight into the technical, commercial, environmental, and policy dimensions of delivering major nuclear infrastructure.
Day Two will include a guided site visit to Hinkley Point C, giving delegates a unique opportunity to experience a live nuclear new build project first hand. The visit will offer valuable insight into the scale, complexity, and coordination involved in delivering one of the UK’s most significant energy infrastructure developments. It will also help bring to life many of the themes discussed throughout Day One, connecting presentations and discussion to real-world project delivery.
Throughout the programme, there will be dedicated opportunities for networking, interactive Q&A sessions with subject matter experts, and open discussion designed to encourage knowledge sharing and connection across disciplines and career stages.
In addition to the two-day programme, a social event will be held at the end of Day One.
This informal dinner will bring delegates together in a relaxed setting, enabling further networking, continued conversation, and meaningful engagement within the wider nuclear community.
Intro to New Build and Power Generation aims to ensure participants leave with a well-rounded understanding of the nuclear new build landscape, the organisations and people shaping it, and the role it will play in the future of the UK energy system.
