New partnership strengthens UK-Canada nuclear professional collaboration
The UK’s Nuclear Institute and the Canadian Nuclear Society have signed an agreement to establish reciprocal membership and foster closer collaboration between the two organisations.
Announced on Canada-UK Nuclear Day on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, the partnership will allow members of either organisation to join the other at no additional cost, providing access to a wide range of member benefits.
The agreement demonstrates the organisations’ shared commitment to international professionalism within the nuclear sector. It will facilitate the exchange of skills and knowledge, strengthen professional relationships, and support the development of members in both countries.
Daniel Gammage, President of the Canadian Nuclear Society, said: “The Canadian Nuclear Society is proud to partner with the UK Nuclear Institute through this reciprocal membership agreement. This initiative strengthens the connection between our professional communities and creates meaningful opportunities for members in Canada and the United Kingdom to share knowledge, build relationships, and advance their professional development.
“At a time when nuclear is playing an increasingly important role in clean energy, innovation, and energy security, international collaboration is essential and this agreement is an important step in supporting that shared future.”
The organisations share an objective to support the safe and effective use of nuclear science and technology, and to strengthen professional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and international engagement between their organisations.
Members of both organisations will be eligible to register for each other’s conferences and events at discounted member rates, and will be able to access all the member benefits offered by both organisations.

About the Canadian Nuclear Society
The Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) was established in 1979 as "the technical society of the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA)." In 1998 the CNS was incorporated as an independent federal, not-for-profit corporation. With the formal separation of the administrative functions of the CNA and CNS, and the physical move of the CNA to Ottawa in March 2000, the two organizations completed a process begun in 1998 whereby the CNS achieved the status of a fully independent society. The CNS is also a member of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
