Nuclear Mentoring

Nuclear Mentors connects Nuclear Institute members at all stages of their careers.

Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting out, this is a valuable opportunity for giving and/or receiving support.

Harness the power of your NI network.

Nuclear Mentors is for supporting any career or personal development goal.

Whether it's public speaking, starting out in the nuclear industry, transitioning into a leadership role, improving self-confidence at work, getting Chartered and more. It's not just for becoming a Member or Fellow (MNucI/FNucI).

Take the difficulty and admin out of the matching process. Search by any of 100+ different skills to find your ideal mentor (or if you're a mentor, the ideal mentee).

We genuinely believe that almost anyone can be a mentor, and it's the ideal volunteering role for anyone who's looking to develop the qualities of a future leader.

Young professional? Ideal mentor for a student. Retired? Decades of experience honing interpersonal skills. Member of an under-represented group in nuclear? We need you!

The NI scheme is not just for joining the NI or getting Chartered, it's also for supporting any career or personal development goal.

Some areas that members are currently being mentored in include public speaking, starting out in the nuclear industry, transitioning into a leadership role, improving self-confidence at work and more.

Faces of Mentoring

"

I gain a huge amount from mentoring, being a scientist and an engineer, I love talking about science and engineering!

I also especially learn a lot from the people who I mentor for outside of my immediate company.

I've just found mentoring enormously valuable and nothing but positive. It's great to have once you get the trust between you; then being able to share ideas and share thoughts and just act as a sounding board for each other.

"

For me, it's been really valuable to utilise mentoring connections where a lot of things are virtual, and it is harder to network.

Part of being a professional engineer is about bringing people through the Chartership process and bringing along the next generation of people.

It's really rewarding to watch people grow both personally and professionally; it makes you feel like you've had a good career and that you've given something back to people.

Having a mentor and being a mentor are equally rewarding.

It’s very humbling to help and support others on their career journey and I’d highly recommend it to anyone considering becoming a mentor to give it a try!
