What events are available?

We deliver a broad range of national and international conferences, and we like to keep our programmes refreshed and current with new as well as established speakers. Our regular conferences include Nuclear Security, Digital, AI, with a range of specialist topics such as SMR’s, Fusion, Decommissioning and project management.

Some of our conferences invite presentations through abstract submission which are assessed by individual event committees. These currently include:

  • Modelling in Nuclear Science and Engineering – annual
  • RAMTrans (Transport, Storage and Disposal of Radioactive Materials)- triennial

Our Regional Branches play an important role in meeting local members' needs through wide ranging programmes of events and activities throughout the year. This includes hosting lectures and seminars/webinars on topics of interest to the nuclear community.

The NI Young Generation Network run an annual speaking competition, with Regional Branch competitions providing winners that go through to a national final, held in September. View previous winners here.

The Competition

The competition is open to everyone under the age of 37 at the time of the competition (i.e. those eligible to be members of the NI Young Generation Network). However, the competition is open to both members and non-members of the NI.

The Experience

The objective is to encourage you to gain valuable experience in communication skills before a live audience. Emphasis is placed on presentation rather than the overall content. The national winner is also invited to give their talk at the YGN Annual Seminar and Dinner.

How to Apply

Regional Branch competitions take place between May-August, with the final usually taking place in September. Visit our events page for details of individual branch competitions.
