Can you support The Girls’ Network?

The Girls’ Network is an award-winning charity that inspires and empowers girls from the least advantaged communities by connecting them with a network of positive female role models, focusing on those in the most deprived or isolated areas. The Girls’ Network was founded in London in 2012 while they were working as teachers as part of the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. The charity has mentored over 1000 girls across the UK – and is looking for mentors in London, Brighton, Portsmouth and Liverpool.

Girls from the poorest communities are held back at school and in life. They face the double disadvantage of gender and wealth inequality. Compared to their male peers and wealthier female counterparts they are less likely to do well at school, less likely to go on to university and less likely to enter the world of work. The Girls' Network is acting to change this.

How can I help?

“Being a mentor is challenging, but also highly rewarding and fun. Observing the girls as they gain confidence and seek new opportunities makes all of the time and effort worthwhile.” Alessandra Colombo, Associate in Risk Management and Mentor for The Girls’ Network.

Being a mentor with The Girls’ Network involves:
-          Commitment to a teenage girl over a year, once a month
-          Structured conversations around career development, interview skills and goal setting
-          Plenty of chances for you to tailor an innovative programme to her needs.

The Girls’ Network excels in matching and you can be confident in being matched with a girl with whom you will form a strong bond. You will be matched to a girl based on ambitions, interests and industry. Learn more about the Mentoring Programme here.
