Mech-Tool Engineering Appointed Supplier on Five-Year Johan Sverdrup Framework Agreement

One of the UK’s leading manufacturers and global suppliers of fire, blast and heat protection systems has successfully been appointed as a preferred supplier – and has already began to deliver its solutions – for the five-year Johan Sverdrup Framework Agreement.

Headquartered in Teesside and with facilities all over the globe, Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd has been appointed by Statoil to deliver its world-renowned solutions for its leading Johan Sverdrup oil field project.

Reported to be one of Norway’s biggest industrial projects in modern times the Johan Sverdup oil field is one of the biggest in the Norwegian continental shelf and is located on the Utsira Height in the North Sea. With production scheduled for the end of 2019, peak production is estimated to reach between 550,000 – 650,000 barrels per day.

Being developed in stages, Mech-Tool Engineering will work alongside Aibel and Samsung Heavy Industries to deliver fire and blast walls, louvres and windows, as well as wind walls and heatshields to be deployed on three of the platforms comprising drilling, riser and production.

Speaking about the contract, Anthony Jones, Business Development Director at Mech-Tool Engineering said: “Johan Sverdrup has been an extreme breakthrough for Norway’s oil industry. We are delighted to have been appointed as a supplier on the five-year framework and to have made the progress we have so far in the delivery of this contract.

“Securing a contract of this nature is true testament to our extensive engineering capabilities. And we firmly believe what sets us apart from our competitors – and which has significantly contributed towards securing this contract - is our ability to deliver the most optimised weight solutions making projects extremely cost effective.”

Safety is paramount to every client specifying with us and all our solutions are type approved by Lloyds Register and DNV-GL. Collaboration with our clients ensures that we provide fully optimised engineered and standardised solutions in terms of cost, project execution and delivery.”
