John Warden stands down as CEO

The Nuclear Institute regrets to announce the departure of John Warden who is standing down as Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear Institute in order to pursue other professional interests. John has been in post since February 2015 and has overseen the integration of Women in Nuclear and a number of initiatives that have seen the Institute’s membership grow. John will leave the Institute on 24th July.

The Institute is currently undergoing strategic developments to improve its role in supporting professionals in the nuclear industry. Pending further announcements, Neil Thomson, President of the Nuclear Institute, will ensure that the CEO duties are appropriately covered.

The Nuclear Institute is the UK membership organisation for Nuclear Professionals. We maintain the standards of professionalism in the nuclear sector through our code of conduct and the Nuclear Delta. Of most importance to us is the education and training of nuclear professionals, as well as the understanding of the nuclear industry from the wider public. As a learned society we also act as the independent voice of the industry.

We are a growing body that works through local UK branches, the regional Young Generation Network (YGN), Women in Nuclear (WIN), Special Interest Groups and operational committees. Company members and partners of the institute are key in supporting the development and standards in the nuclear sector by showing their commitment to both the industry and professional development.

Neil Thomson,

President, The Nuclear Institute
