Nuclear Institute Midlands Branch

Covering both the East and West Midlands, the NI Midlands Branch is quite new, but keen to expand and grow its membership with those at all stages of their career.

Run by a committee of volunteers, the branch is made up NI members in the local area, supported by the London-based Nuclear Institute head office, and the Board of Trustees.

The branch aims to promote the Nuclear Institute strategic and charitable objectives through an ongoing programme of educational and social events, including:

  • Evening lectures
  • Technical visits
  • Networking events
  • STEM outreach activities
  • Speaking Competition in (collaboration with the YGN)
  • Membership workshops

Evening lectures are generally run from September through to April, and technical visits are arranged where possible to broaden members’ nuclear experience. Both events tend to be followed by a social or networking event.

The Branch works alongside the Young Generation Network, engaging with STEM work in schools and attracting University graduates keen to contribute to the community. We also co-host the annual Speaking Competition with the YGN.

We run membership workshops, suitable for both new members and those pursuing the Nuclear Delta and professional registration. New members are always welcome, and if you’re in the area, please get in touch; we’re a friendly bunch and always glad to welcome new faces!

Volunteering for the Midlands Branch

Volunteering is a great way to keep in touch with the branch and the broader NI, and can be a great asset to your career in the industry, giving you opportunities to develop your personal and professional skills and experience, and build a personal network with other like-minded people.

If you would like to get more involved in the running and organisation of the  Midlands Branch and the events listed above, please email the branch chair at chair.midlands@nuclearinst.com.
