Net Zero Needs Nuclear: A Roadmap to 2024

This week, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Nuclear Energy, with the support of the NIA, has published a new report, Net Zero Needs Nuclear: A Roadmap to 2024.

The Roadmap sets out the 10 urgent actions we need by 2024 to restore nuclear capacity to at least 10 GW by the early 2030s. As the report set out, “with new investment, we can cut emissions, create tens of thousands of high-quality jobs, and secure the UK’s world-class nuclear skills base. Without new investment, the UK will lose critical capabilities and our position as an international leader in nuclear technology.” The key steps it identifies includes progress on a new financing model this year as a priority, and action to enable large and small scale projects to proceed.

APPG welcomes any support you can give in publicising this report through your own websites and social media channels, and by raising it with your MPs. They are particularly keen to get Parliamentarians to declare their support for the Roadmap as a clear, ambitious and realistic way forward for the nuclear industry to support the UK’s climate goals and ambition to level up the economy.
