Sarah Beacock
Sarah has been CEO at the Nuclear Institute since February 2017 and led the team to grow the membership and events programme in that period. With other changes such as a new publisher for Nuclear Future and a modernised governance system this has been a period of great change and development for the Institute towards a sustainable future.
Prior to becoming CEO Sarah worked in other membership bodies for over 30 years including the Energy Institute and Chartered Insurance Institute. Prior to that she began her career in the accreditation and assessment field with the Royal Society of Arts examinations board (now OCR) and also spent a period of four years as a freelance editor and consultant in the insurance field.
She has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and her 20+ years in the energy industry have given her a worldwide experience and expertise in the skills needs required by all parts of the industry. She is a Fellow of the Energy Institute.

Cynthia Hearing
Cynthia joined the NI in March 2022. She has over 18 years’ experience working in the education and professional membership sectors. She previously worked for the Institution of Structural Engineers for 13 years as Membership and Qualifications Manager. Prior to that she worked for Pearson Edexcel for 6 years looking after qualifications and key accounts in the ambulance and security sectors.
She is a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Jennifer Killick
Jennifer is the Institute's Membership Manager, responsible for professional grades of membership offered by the NI, including Fellow, Member and registration titles e.g. CEng.
Jennifer joined the NI in June 2023. She has 10 years’ experience working in the membership sector as well as 2 years in talent acquisition. She previously worked for the Royal Institute of British Architects in Membership Services, Membership Development + Member relations, including running a mentoring scheme for young architects.

James Barker
James joined the NI in August 2022 and is responsible for all marketing and promotional activities of the Institute, supporting regional branches and other communities with marketing and communications activity across all platforms.
Previously he worked at the South West Nuclear Hub at the University of Bristol, helping to connect regional academia, industry and governmental organisations, as well as promoting nuclear research.

Salman Malik
Salman joined NI as Marketing Assistant Apprentice, working on creating content for our social media pages. In- addition to supporting content creation and social media management, he is responsible for regularly checking website analytics to identify opportunities for improvement and track the success of marketing initiatives. As an apprentice, he has the opportunity to learn and grow within the field of marketing and develop skills to contribute to the Nuclear Institute's Future.

Alison Hunt
Alison joined the NI in 2014 as Events Officer to provide support for the smooth running of the NI’s events.
Previously, Alison has worked for many years in the Financial publishing sector as Marketing & Circulation Manager on various trade journals. She has also worked in the volunteering sector to promote opportunities for volunteering.

Om Maharjan
Om Joined the NI in July 2018. He previously worked as a Finance Officer at Frances Taylor Foundation.
Om has a Masters degree in Accounting and Finance, and is currently doing a professional qualification through AAT.
