Meet the NIWB Team for 2016

Nuclear Institute Western Branch (NIWB) is growing and it is going to be full of new activities and events in 2016.

2015 was a year of change with plenty of new faces added to both our committee and our membership.

We have a new Chair, Anna Ellis. Anna says: “I am honoured to have been elected Chair in October. I would like to extend huge thanks to my predecessor Anne Lawrence for her fantastic leadership of the Branch over many years. She has left the branch in a strong position, as we gear up to work with NI centrally, to see healthy growth in membership over the next five years. Recognising that the Western Branch area is the centre of much new nuclear activity, we are ourselves gearing up to deliver “more for members” amongst other initiatives. So keep your eyes peeled for news of new activities. Many of our activities are open to non-members too so do please encourage your colleagues to come along, and hopefully they will see the benefits that membership brings. We are also setting up a volunteers’ network. Do get in touch if you have some time to spare to further our charitable objectives.

I am looking forward to hosting the top table at our Annual Dinner on 10th March. It promises to be a great evening. Mark Hartley of EDF Energy Generation Ltd will be our guest speaker, and we look forward to hearing some of his insights. Please join us if you can!”

Also our committee has been joined by new members Lauren Bennett, Simon Briggs and Viktorija Zaksaite. They immediately got involved in committee activities, taking on the Secretary, Education and Training (E&T) and Communications rep roles respectively.

If you want to be part of NI Western Branch and get involved with our various events and activities, please come along to one of our evening lectures and speak with one of our committee members or just come along to one of our committee meetings. Everyone is welcome! For more information and event dates please follow us on Facebook or Twitter, or get in touch with our secretary Lauren using westernbranch@nuclearinst.com

There have also been some changes in the NI centrally. The NI welcomes a new President this year, Neil Thomson, Senior Advisor within EDF Energy. Many thanks to the outgoing NI President Rear Admiral Tim Chittenden for his tremendous efforts and leadership.
