This tour is of the Sizewell B nuclear power station. Sizewell B is compromised of the only UK PWR (Pressurised Water Reactor) which has been operational since the 1995 and as of 09/07/26 it was confimed that Sizewell B will extended it operational life by 20 years to 2055. The power station is currently owned and operated by EDF which a net power output of approximately 1200MW.
The tour aims to provide an insight into the deisgn and operation of the only PWR reactor in British nuclear reactor fleat. PWR reactors use water under extreme pressure as both a coolant and neutron moderator.
This tour is free of charge, there are only 19 places available and priority will be given to Nuclear Institute YGN Members, should a non-YGN member register they will be added to a waiting list.
Registrants are to obtain and submit line manager approval to go on the visit.
It is up to the attendees to make their own way to the site and a tour guide will show the attendees around the facility. Lunch will not be provided.
