Maritime Nuclear technology is rapidly re-emerging as a credible route to decarbonising global shipping. This NIYGN–HellenicYGN webinar brings together leading experts to explore the history of nuclear propulsion at sea, the engineering and safety challenges faced by the sector, and the positive steps being taken to enable zero-carbon energy for maritime operations.
The session will examine technical, regulatory, and operational considerations including safety assurance at sea, international legislative development, and the role of research institutions in enabling next-generation reactor technologies for maritime use.
We will also be joined by experts from organisations that will be instrumental in the delivery and implementation of next-generation nuclear generating or propelled vessels.
We are joined by Simon Williams, the Chief Technologist of Nuclear Safety at Rolls-Royce. With more than 25 years of experience in the nuclear sector, and a leading expert in the safe and effective implementation of AMR integration into seaborne platforms, he is an authoritative voice in showing how we can overcome the complexities of maritime nuclear, and bring zero carbon propulsion to a global market. Simon is a contributing member to the ongoing Maritime Nuclear Consortium headed by Lloyds Register, developing international regulation and insurance routes for nuclear vessels of the future.
The webinar will run for one hour, with approximately 40 minutes of presentations followed by 15 minutes of audience Q&A. The session will be recorded, and attendees will receive CPD certification.
