About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Senior Process Design Engineer to join our Liquefied Gas Equipment (LGE) Division. We design and supply cargo handling systems for liquefied gas ships across the globe. LGE is an incredibly innovative and diverse business with patented designs working with LPG, LNG, Ethane, Ethylene and new projects with CO2.

Our Head Office is in Rosyth, with most projects mainly in South Korea and China at the biggest shipyards in the world. With a diverse product portfolio in numerous markets, we offer an exciting opportunity to join an ever-growing business with longevity. You will be part of an experienced and supportive team of Engineers and you will collaborate with numerous engineering departments.

You will develop designs and PFD's, P&ID's, develop process heat/mass balance to size and select equipment and produce datasheets and specifications equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, compressors and control and safety relief valves. You will produce technical documentation including formal submission of calculations, reports and operating manuals, evaluate vendor quotations and attend customer meetings showcasing a professional and quality design service.

What do I need to do the role?

You'll need to have experience as a Process Design Engineer within a highly regulated industry and hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Chemical Engineering.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of Product and Process Safety systems HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA.
  • Experience of leading studies such as HAZID and HAZOP is preferable.
  • IT capable and familiar with process engineering software
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
