Project Manager, Bexley Heath, Competitive Salary & Benefits (REF: 14257-en_GB)

EDF Energy have an exciting new opportunity as a Project Manager to be based within our Bexleyheath Office to direct and manage Property Services projects from inception through to completion, in line with Statutory, best practice, and EDF Energy requirements. You will ensure projects are delivered safely and to a high standard, with value for money and the successful, timely, and cost effective delivery of objectives.

Property Services projects are carried out across the Corporate estate which comprises of largely office buildings of varying size. Most of these are located in Southern England, but there are also some in the North East and Scotland. On occasion projects may also be delivered on industrial, residential, and other properties. The types of projects generally comprise; repair / renewal projects (including M&E plant), refurbishments, office moves and fit-outs. The Project Manager will be required to manage multiple projects, across the geographical area allocated to them. However, from time to time there may be the requirement to manage projects outside of their usual geographical area.
 

The Person

As Project Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the required high standards of HS&E management and practice are adopted and adhered to throughout the project. This includes ensuring that all aspects of the project, including: inspections/surveys, team travel, design, procurement, site visits and meetings, etc. are all considered from a HS&E perspective. As well as this, you will be in full control of all HS&E management aspects throughout the project, being aware of current and future key HS&E risks, and ensuring these clearly documented and articulated in set-up (Risk Assessments, PEP, PCI etc.) and management documentation (RAID log, RAMS, CPHSP etc.).

Your day to day duties will include: 

•    Being responsible for ensuring compliance with the CDM regulations, ensuring everyone fully understands and is competent to carry out their roles and responsibilities under Regulations, EDF Policies, Standards and processes and procedures which would be established with the Project team via the Design team and Pre-Construction meetings.
•    Seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in all aspects of project delivery to ensure they highest possible standards of HS&E management is achieved. As Project Manager, you will work collaboratively with other members of EDF Energy H&S and Property Services teams to suggest adjustments where appropriate, to provide a higher standard of HS&E management and practices, and achieved shared success.
•    Being overall responsible for delivering the project including overseeing the business change elements such as HR and Comms. You will be present on site during the construction phase of the project to provide an H&S assurance function, ensuring that all EDF Energy H&S standards are adhered to. 
 

The Skills

You will have a proven track record of successful delivery of building, mechanical, electrical or facilities works projects from inception to completion including feasibility, design, procurement, construction and completion, in a similar role. You will also have a solid technical background, with understanding of the construction and project management processes. 

As well as this,  you will:

•    Have a minimum of HNC (or equivalent) in a Building Services / Building Surveying / Project Management related field. Prince2 and/or professional membership of RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, APM, PMI preferred.
•    Demonstrate a flexible approach to meet the changing commitments and workload of the wider team and be willing to travel and adopt flexible working hours to meet work demands is a key requirement of the role. 
•    Possess a full clean driving licence.
•    Have strong organisational skills in planning and programming of projects, to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. 
•    Show strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and plan availability and allocation of people and resources to meet deadlines. 
•    Be able to implement and manage change, and follow EDF Energy policies, procedures, standards and processes as well as being able to take on board lessons learnt for process improvement.
•    Demonstrate sound commercial awareness and be highly numerate, with experience of budgeting and cost analysis as well as being able to use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs, and to actively manage / control budgets.
•    Have well-developed written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare and present reports and interface effectively with all staff up to and including senior managers, stakeholders, and external suppliers. 
•    Be proactive in identifying project risks and issues, seeking support in resolution, and escalating where required.
•    Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and commonly used software systems, tools, and techniques to actively monitor project delivery - programme, progress, costs etc and the ability to create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
