Meet the NIWB Team: Adrian Brown, Altran

Adrian BrownBrown Quote

This month I would like to introduce you to Adrian Brown, who has been NI member since 2002!

Q1. What organisation do you work for and what are your responsibilities?

I work for Altran.  Altran provides its services through five integrated Group Solutions, international organisations with global delivery teams and centres of excellence in particular engineering disciplines: Intelligent Systems, Innovative Product Development, Lifecycle Experience, Mechanical Engineering and Information Systems.  In the UK, Altran is active in the aerospace, defence, rail, automotive, energy and telecoms sectors.  I am a safety engineer with experience as author and verifier for Engineering Changes, drafting design substantiation report and developing contingency plans.

Q2. How long you have been an NIWB committee member and what are your responsibilities on the committee?

I have been a member of the Nuclear Institute (previously BNES) since 2002 and have recently taken the step to support the committee through ad-hoc tasks assigned.

Q3. Why did you join NIWB committee?

I have enjoyed Nuclear Institute events over the years but have worked away from home a lot.  I am now seeking to give some back through the time I now have available working from a regular base.

Q4. What for you has been the best thing that has happened at NIWB?

Interesting talks are well attended and it is a bonus to catch-up with old colleagues from previous companies or projects.

Q5. What are the future prospects for NI?

The growth of the nuclear industry in the UK, and especially in the West with the build of Hinkley Point C, opens the prospect of a larger Western Branch more involved with other professional bodies and the local community.

Q6. Any personal comments and hobbies.

With four grand-children hobbies have reverted back to duplo and Lego, great fun.
