Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Event: Engineering Your Future

Central England Branch (CEB) of the Nuclear Institute attended the ‘Engineering Your Future’ event at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) on 28th June 2018. Engineering Your Future is a careers event to help students in Year 12 find out more about different careers available to them if they choose to progress with work or study in the field of engineering. This involved an exhibition during the lunch break in which the students got the opportunity to find out more about the nuclear industry and the Nuclear Institute’s role.

In attendance from CEB were: Roy Manning; Therese Kehoe (Treasurer for CEB); and Saralyn Thomas of Orano in her role as Young Generation Network (YGN) Representative for the Branch. CEB has established a close relationship with RAL through its extensive Education & Training programme and regularly attends similar events at RAL. For more information on CEB activities, please contact secretary.centralengland@nuclearinst.com.

Saralyn was also representing Women in Nuclear at the event, a branch of which is being formed in Central England area, with a formal branch launch planned towards the end of the year. If anyone would like more information on this or would like to be involved, please contact WINCentral@nuclearinst.com.
