Nuclear Institute Open Day, AGM, YGN National Speaking Competition Final and Keynote Speaker

The AGM will this year be combined with the final of the YGN speaking competition as well as our keynote speaker who will be presented with the Hinton Award.

An open day showcasing the work of the NI, its branches, YGN and WiN will start from 3pm to which all involved in the nuclear industry are invited.

Items that you wish to raise at the AGM should be sent to President@nuclearinst.com by 4 September.

We are delighted to announce Professor Andrew Sherry FREng FNucI, as our keynote speaker for the evening. Andrew will be speaking on the topic of innovation in nuclear and will be presented with the Hinton Award in recognition of his contribution to the industry.

Professor Andrew Sherry was appointed as NNL’s Chief Scientist in January 2015, joining NNL from The University of Manchester where he was Director of the Dalton Nuclear Institute, winning the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2012. He has over 30 years' experience in the nuclear sector, leading programmes on science and innovation within both industry and academia.

Andrew is a member of the UK Nuclear Innovation Research Advisory Board and provides independent advice on strategic, technical and safety aspects of nuclear power to government, industry and international nuclear bodies including CEA, INL and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Nuclear Institute and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
