Green Recovery: The Role of Nuclear and Renewables

In November this year, the UK will host the major UN climate change summit known as COP26. This is the most important climate summit since the landmark Paris Agreement was agreed at COP21 in 2015.

In the run up to COP26, the Nuclear Institute YGN, FoNE and YEP are collaborating on a three part series to equip young people with the information they need to become advocates for climate action, nuclear and renewables, ahead of the conference.

Our second event will focus on a green recovery, addressing the following questions:

• The Government is looking to Build Back Better and greener following Covid-19. Where are we now and how can we achieve a Green Recovery?

• Hinkley Point C is the first nuclear power station in a generation. How is this nuclear renaissance delivering job opportunities and skills for the UK?

• By 2030 we plan to quadruple our offshore wind capacity and increase representation of women in offshore wind to at least a third. How is the industry building a diverse and inclusive workforce?

Following the presentations there will be an opportunity for everyone to get involved and ask questions in a Q&A session.
