Will a Skills Shortage Impinge on Nuclear New Build?

Noting that this is an industry in transition, the author states that the government has a commitment to creating 100,000 jobs in the nuclear sector. Worldwide, 436 power reactors currently contribute
15% of the world’s energy and the pace of development is increasing: over forty new reactors are under construction, 106 are in planning and 266 are being proposed. Statistics show that we need 25% of graduates to leave universities with relevant degrees to service the predicted growth in jobs in the nuclear industry. This problem is compounded by the ageing population of the current workforce in the nuclear industry. As an example, by 2025, almost half the overall nuclear workforce in Cumbria will have retired. So who will fill their shoes during a period of predicted immense growth in this industry? The author then quotes from interviews with (mostly) company directors in an attempt to answer the question
