As the nuclear industry gets ready for a renaissance, it is prudent to identify the technical challenges facing the industry and review the readiness level of the current technology. As one of the leading engineering consultancies, AMEC has conducted a technology review to check if the existing technologies need to be developed or improved to meet the new technical challenges facing the nuclear industry. This is to ensure that AMEC continues to work in line with its strategic intent which is to support the utilities in providing them with the best technology whilst maintaining a 'technology neutral' profile. This strategic intent is to remain independent of vendors and stay 'technology neutral'. This means that the Company should neither be seen as the main owner of the nuclear 'technology' nor as the ultimate user of nuclear 'technology' but as the vital link between the two. AMEC has developed its professional skill base and technologies to be able to play the role of the link between the main owner and the ultimate user of the nuclear 'technology'. AMEC has its own skill base and technologies which enable it to act as the technology link and deliver the required consultancy
